General
Rental Report is a free tool developed for tenants & landlords. Users can write their experiences about any unit in any building so future tenants can see what it's really like, good or bad.
Users can submit stories, photos, videos, audio recordings, scans, rent receipts and more to become part of a rental units historical record.
Spring of 2015, after several months of research and planning, we registered RentalReport.ca. A year later we launched the application.
We're tired of seeing tenants sign a one year lease then find out shortly after that the next year of their life is going to be full of regret. With our platform you can share information that current and future tenants should have access to, but currently do not.
We'll be launching nationally very soon. Internationally shortly after. Rental Report has already evolved immensely behind the scenes. We have acquired dozens of amazing domain names and have developed a platform that takes care of everything the rental industry has to offer.
Unfortunately not, RentalReport is privately funded and we wish to keep it that way.
Technical
It doesn't cost anything, nor will it ever cost anything.
All reports are anonymous whether or not you are logged in. If you're really concerned about remaining anonyous then be sure not to include any identifiable information in your report, choose the options to hide the lease start/end date and the unit number, if applicable.
Having an account allows you to manage all your reports, buildings, points (coming soon) and more. Without an account your report is only attached to an email address, and can't be modified unless you sign up an account with that email address.
Legal
Yes, you are fully responsible and legally liable for all content you submit on RentalReport. We take zero responsibility for the content of your submissions. If you post slanderous, defamatory or non-factual information about a person or company, you could be sued by the affected party and you could end up with an enormous legal bill.
We will always store the ip address and timestamp of every submission. This helps us prevent abuse of our system.
