Great value - utilities and AC included, good maintenance

My husband and I lived in this building for several years, in a 1 bedroom apartment. It is not the most trendy apartment so some fixtures are old, but everything was in good repair and Homestead was quick to resolve any issues.

What we loved most about this apartment was the value - all utilities were included, including central air. The neighbours were a close second - mostly retired folks, mixed in with some professionals, and a small number of young families. We were on the top floor and had a great view of the area. Once, we got locked in our unit in the early morning (the deadbolt wouldn't unlock) and the maintenance staff came quickly to help us. They also cleaned the heat/ac units and filters yearly for us. Also, having the in-building office to speak with staff was helpful.

The only complaint we had was that they increased the rent each year, like clockwork, in the allowed limited amount. But this seems to be standard in Ottawa - charge lower rent to lure people in, then raise by the allowed amount each year.
